      Thus, methods were investigated to improve the accuracy of kinematic positioning by using network configuration on the basis of several single-baseline solutions. Corrective factors known as differential corrections are applied to the satellite measurements in real time from a second receiver known as a base or reference station occupying a known location on the earth. Kinematic is a term applied to GPS surveying methods where receivers are in continuous motion, but for relative positioning the more typical arrangement is a stop and go technique.

This approach involves using at least one stationary reference receiver and at least one moving receiver called a rover. As with many surveying technologies, GPS has numerous failure points.

Some basic issues could severely deteriorate accuracy: for example, if one mis-measures the rod height or is working in close proximity to tall buildings or dense tree cover, your GPS survey.
